| As a police officer I was appalled to see what happened in November of 2006 in the case of Sean Bell.He was a young man who was venturing out with some friends for a night of fun, some bars and some adult entertainment.The bachelor party was going well, but it was a tragic case of someone in the wrong place at the wrong time.The bar was the wrong place, apparently - the bar was full of undercover officers who were investigating prostitution.There were friends of Sean's at the bar who were arguing and someone overheard a friend tell Sean Bell, to go the car and retrieve a gun.The police officer's overheard this request and followed Mr. Bell to the vehicle.Once at the vehicle he was apprehended - but he was intoxicated and refused to stop, driving into a police vehicle.At the point that he refused to cooperate he was shot. |
