For the uninitiated, this is the latest entry in Alicia's Group Blogging Experience.?I am running a little late this week.?I normally write these posts on Thursday, but I had an extra good workout and Juno, my son, had a physics project due.?So I didn't get to sit down at my computer altar and think last night.?And now I am squeezing it in between appointments and system downtime at work.(BTW, if anyone at work is reading, I wrote this off line.?I am not using precious Government bandwidth to write a blog).Achievements and accomplishments are a funny thing.?We are taught that these these are goals to strive for.?By completing these tasks, it is supposed make us happy and content.?You will be a hero to everyone else.?But I have never been comfortable with that.?Just because I have completed something does not generate a feeling of completion.?Just an emptiness that needs to be refilled with some other task.?I really can't think of any one item I can point to and say: " Woo Hoo!?Look at me!?

Look at me!?I did this and you didn't!" I really have never been comfortable with the spotlight directly on me.?I am one that prefers to be on the edge of that light.?Even when I was acting, I preferred the character role to the lead.?It was less responsibility and more fun.I only need a few seconds of the spotlight to be happy.I want to feel the warmth, but not have the glare.?If I help someone else reach a goal in life, then I feel complete.?And then I am ready to serve the next person.?I think back on the really great people I have had the pleasure to meet.?Some of them are on my friends list.Others wouldn't be caught dead on line.?I have met celebrities and business leaders and politicians and many others.?It is the people connection that is the real achievement.?For when we are dead and gone, it will be those relationships that will define us to future generations
